Who we are

TerraPixel is made by iLife, Belgium. Questions about privacy: robbie@ilife.be.

What stays on your phone

The app stores the following only in its own storage on your device:

• what you said to the egg, and your chats with your creature
• the facts your creature remembers about you, and its dreams
• your creature, its name, your name and its care meters
• the times you were active in the app, so your creature can learn your sleep rhythm
• your settings, such as sound and music volume

The AI model runs on your device. Your messages are never sent to us or to any AI service. We have no servers that receive your data, and the app has no account, ads, analytics or tracking.

Downloads on first start

On first start, the app downloads its AI models (Gemma and EmbeddingGemma, about 3.8 GB) from Hugging Face. This is a normal file download: none of your data is sent. Like any website, Hugging Face receives technical information such as your IP address when the file is downloaded; see the Hugging Face privacy policy.

The app itself is installed and updated through Google Play, which is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Backups

TerraPixel is excluded from Android's cloud backup, so your chats and memories are not copied to your Google account. When you move to a new phone with a direct transfer (cable or Wi-Fi from phone to phone, on Android 12 and newer), your creature can come along.

Permissions

• Internet and network state: only to download the AI models, and to check for Wi-Fi before that large download.
• Notifications, foreground service and wake lock: to keep the download going and show its progress.
• Start after reboot: to resume an unfinished download after your phone restarts.

Deleting your data

Use Start over in the app's settings to delete your creature, chats and memories, or uninstall the app to remove everything, including the AI models. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing to delete on our side.

Reporting a message

If an answer from your creature seems offensive, harmful or inappropriate, you can long-press it and choose Report. Your own e-mail app then opens with that one message filled in, addressed to robbie@ilife.be. Nothing is sent unless you send that e-mail yourself. Reports are only used to improve the app, and deleted when they are no longer needed.

Safety

If you mention a medical emergency or thoughts of self-harm, the app shows helpline numbers. This check happens on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere.

Children

TerraPixel is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
